According to Webster's Dictionary, the definition of poetry is "literature in metrical form." This is, of course, a very broad definition. Throughout history, poetry has taken on many different forms, most with specific rules that apply only to that particular style. In the following posts, I will give examples of 18 different styles of poetry, some well known, others slightly obscure. All, however, can be used to express yourself in unique and creative ways that everyday speech cannot begin to rival.
